¿Qué es Fepex?

Trade of processed fruit and vegetables has undergone a phase of continuous growth in Spain, even during the economic crisis. Sales of these products have increased by more than 100% since 2004.

In 2012 the volume of trade in fruit and vegetables processed in Spain amounted to 75.3 million kilos (an increase of 2% over the previous year) although there has been a significant drop in the average sale price per kilogram, reflected in an increase in net sales figures (currently around 1%).

Of the total sales of processed fruit and vegetables in 2012, 72.6 million kilos correspond to vegetables and 2.8 million kilos to fruit. The increase in processed vegetables in 2012 with respect to the previous year was 2.8%, and -20.5% for processed fruit. In relation to the destination of the processed fruit and vegetables sold in 2012, 82% was destined to general distribution and 18% to the hotel and catering sector, getting to 60% of Spanish homes.
